FAQ About Tundra Computer and Laptop Repair
FAQ
Here are the answers to a few questions you may have about Tundra Computer Repair including, directions, cost structure, drop-off policy and pick-up rates and general computer repair procedures.
Where is Tundra Computer and Laptop Repair?
We are located directly across the street from Walmart on St. Rt. 59, between Kent and Ravenna in the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park, Lot #12.
How much is this going to cost?
Most repairs we charge a flat rate of $60. That usually includes diagnosis and virus removal, blow out the unit, quick evauation and tune-up.
If the operating system needs to be replaced, as in particularly bad infections, we save all personal data from the unit to an external hard drive, replace the operating system, install all the updates and make sure the drivers are all up to date. This would also include blowing out and doing an evaluation of the computer. Replacing the operating system usually adds 24 hours to the repair and costs a little extra at $80.
If it is determined by us that parts need replacing to effect a repair, we will contact you with our findings and to get your approval. We generally get very fast shipping being members of Amazon Prime but, obviously, this will add 2-5 days to repair. The cost of the part will be added to cost and the labor will be discussed on an indivual basis before the part is ordered.
How long will the repair take?
We understand how important getting back to work and back on-line so we try to turn most repairs by the next day. Sometimes new issues show up once the original repair is done so if we have to keep it an additional day we will so that you get the best performance out of your computer. Obviously, if parts need to be ordered, this will affect the amount of time it will take but we do most repairs in 24 to 48 hours.
What are the most common issues?
The most common, by far are viruses. It only takes one tiny mistake to allow something to get into your system, oftentimes despite having an anti-virus program on your computer. We have a couple of favorite Ant-Virus programs that we will discuss with you after repairs are made and can install them for you if you would like.
The second most common issue is slow performance. Over time, your start menu may become bloated from programs you've installed, your registry ends up with references that are no longer there, unwanted services may be running that slow the computer down and temporary internet files become unmanagable. We also find that a lot of performance issues turn out to be trackers, adware and other low level undesireable viruses that may not be noticeable at first but begin to affect performance as they increase in number.
We believe that any child without access to computer is at a disadvantage today, both in school and social media. We will work with anyone trying to make that happen, just let us know.
